We held a successful Festival of Winter Walks programme. The Group organised 14 walks during the Festival and these were well attended. We held our first Christmas Day walk and 15 people arrived for it. Two of these were new to organised walking and joined the Ramblers. A total of 385 people came out on the 15 walks, an average of 25 on each walk. The highest figure was 36 and the lowest 15.
On the whole the weather was good throughout for this time of the year. One walk was on a foggy morning; surprisingly 26 turned out. Visibility over some fields was less than 100 metres. The atmosphere in the fog was peaceful (if we stopped talking).
Nearly all the walks had an optional visit to a café or pub. The Festival contained three all day walks and eleven half day walks.
The Christmas Day walk had a full report and photograph in the local paper the Surrey Advertiser.
